VIBE This feels like the buzzing work/community hub of the neighborhood - at 9am, just about every seat was filled with a warm body and a laptop, clocked in and caffeinated, ready for a full-day's remote work. The space itself is spacious, and with lots of merch to browse. SERVICE & COFFEE Meanwhile back at the counter, after getting input from the (friendly) barista I had a fantastic Papua New Guinea pour-over that was chocolately, vibrant, fruity, and complex. Halfway thru my cup, I was inspired to get up from my stool and buy a bag of the beans to bring home with me to CA. Back in CA and halfway through said beans, I went online and ordered another bag. FOOD Wish they had more hot food breakfast options - they did have a variety of pastries and also a breakfast burrito, but we would have loved a more extensive hot menu.
I spend too much money at Northern Coffeeworks. I'm a sucker for the expresso drinks here, they are amazing, some of the best in town. The brew coffee seems to be hit or miss sometimes, or maybe I got fancy taste now? The vibe is great for remote work. Lots of wooden tables (not the most comfy) and open space. This means some days, if you arrive at 9am, good luck getting a table.... Or even on the weekends, you'll be fighting folks who bring over donuts from Bakers Wife. Shop has pastries from Marc Heu (whose pastries are just meh, like why does everything have to have a coat of sugar over it, including plain croissant or a savory ham/cheese croissant). Also, why is the orange juice $7 dollars? I wished they have food like the pre-pandemic days.
Great spot to work from. Very good amount of seating, outlets, and tables. I tried the chai and it was delicious (chai can be hit or miss for me). I wish they had a better variety of baked goods and that those weren't quite as expensive. But the drink prices are reasonable. Very very cute place.
Just had to add that I really love the seasonal Bieberkopf Cortado! Who would have thought espresso, caraway, and grapefruit would be such a good combination.
This was my first time at Northern Coffeeworks. My friend and I decided to come here to co-work. This place is perfect for it. Ample seating, clean, and plenty of plugs. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and it was great! The baristas were friendly and made good coffee. Thank you Northern Coffeeworks for a comfortable place to work and get out of the house during the winter. And for an excellent cup of coffee :)
If you haven't been to their renovated location yet, it is a must visit. Northern Coffeeworks offers incredible drinks for coffee and non coffee lovers alike. My go to is the matcha or any of their seasonal offerings. They sure know how to bring seasonal flavors to their customers, and they don't miss. They also have some great pastry options. During the weekday, its a great place to get some work done, and during the weekends it stays consistently busy. There is lots of different seating for a number a different size groups, and the atmosphere is cozy. Make sure to ride your bike there during the summer months, as you will see lots of the biking community stopping by.
Ordered a Cortado.. not the Best, but it was fine, pastry was good.. Why You would come here, Great seating, Great Service, Great Power availability while You work Great Internet service.. And pretty darn good Coffee, Excellent Pastry, Good place to study or work..
Very good working spot. Lots of seating, although the wifi can get slow at times and you may suddenly be stuck next to someone with a loud voice and a lot of zooms (neighbor, I don't think this is where you should teach classes from). Some spots also are under things like a very aggressive air conditioner, brrrrrr. But, decent coffee (I guess I need to come back for straight espresso), fancy pastries from Marc Heu, and one of my favorite bakeries is right next door. I'd work here again.
This place is so cool. Very roomy with lots of lit and dimmer areas. Eclectic furniture and places to sit, including 2 picnic tables. Spacing is perfect. Roomy bathrooms. Various items to purchase including a candle that smells like a boomer aftershave. I took off a star because the hot chocolate had an odd under taste even with sugar. It was also lukewarm. Order it very hot if you get it. It's a fairly busy place, but they are fast. Whenever I go to a Baker's Wife I'll stop here.
What a beautiful space! So much room to connect with friends over coffee and a pastry. I enjoyed a pour over and then a chai latte. The pour over was exquisite, the chai was fine. I did not have a pastry but my friends did and enjoyed them. I wish we had a coffee shop this spacious with beautiful decor in my neighborhood
